Police prepare for busy Christmas season

The various police departments around town along with 339 volunteers from the sawang booriboon foundation have been briefed about their duties and vigilance for the coming Christmas and New Year season.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Punya Maamen, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, Chonburi, presided over the ceremony that was attended by the Tourist Police, Immigration Police, the Special Investigation Unit, 14th Military Circle and the office of Narcotics Control Board Region 2 and Pattaya as well Civil Defense Volunteers.

The aim is to minimize crime and traffic accidents during this busy time by organizing various checkpoints.

They will also inspect entertainment venues to ensure that there are no customers under 20 years of age, no gambling or indecent acts including pornography

Illegal weapons and fireworks will also be searched for and confiscated as well as drink driving and use of mobile phones whist driving.

The city is expected to be very busy over the coming weeks and the authorities want to ensure safety for our citizens and visitors.
