Police chief to take legal action against police officers involved in trafficking of Rohingyas

BANGKOK, 8 May 2015 -The Police Commander says he will leave no stone in every police department unturned in order to bring those involved in the trafficking of Rohinya to justice.

Police Chief Police General Somyos Poomphanmuang has demanded that police do their best in preventing human trafficking, and that they should not get involved in such a heinous crime to line their own pockets.

Any police found to have taken part in such a crime will be prosecuted and removed from his position immediately.

Police General Somyos has also asked the investigation unit to find out whether government officials from other agencies have been involved.

The names of the culprits will be revealed to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan before harsh legal action is taken.
