BANGKOK, 5 September 2011  – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has accepted criticisms by the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) against government policies while pledging fair transfers of state officials.

After being criticized by the TDRI over inefficient policies of the Government, particularly the rice mortgaging scheme, Prime Minister Yingluck affirmed that she was willing to listen to any comments from all sides. She pleaded for a chance for her administration to work for now, promising that she would bring concrete achievements before the Thai people as soon as possible.

According to the premier, the Ministry of Commerce has been instructed to study the possibility of improving economic policies aimed at increasing income for people. Among them, urgent ones are to be carried out first within a timeframe of one year.

Ms Yingluck asserted that she had no intention to prioritize political agendas over the mission to solve economic problems. Regarding the transfer of civil servants at the moment, she said each minister had been authorized to handle the procedure within his or her own ministry while taking into account candidates’ suitability for their new positions. The premier confirmed that the Government was not looking to abuse its power in the transfer process.
