PM urges agencies to gear up Single Window integration

BANGKOK, 27 June 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has urged related agencies to complete their National Single Window system prior to the integration of the ASEAN Community that will facilitate the region’s trade and investment, according to a spokesman.

The Prime Minister’s Office Deputy Spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd revealed that the Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has appointed the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Department to be the main agencies responsible for the installation of the National Single Window (NSW) System to increase the nation’s competitiveness.

The NSW will be providing a complete service which will help reduce the cost and facilitate international trade. Twenty nine agencies in Thailand such as the Customs Department, the Department of Foreign Trade, and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, are now capable of exchanging information through the NSW system, while 7 other agencies are now in the process of developing and testing their integration to the system.

Other ASEAN country members have also developed systems to build a connected electronic database between each nation’s NSW system together to provide a one stop service that will reduce operational and management costs and to simplify international trading procedures.

The PMO Deputy Spokesman also said that the Prime Minister has urged the agencies to hasten their integration readiness prior to the ASEAN Community’s commencement to ensure maximum performance of the nation’s trade and investment capabilities.
