BANGKOK, 15 September 2011 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is ready to start the allocation of the 5,000-THB compensation to flood victims in Nakhon Sawan on 17 September with nearly 19,000 recipients.

According to Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Viboon Sanguanpong, the Cabinet earlier this week agreed to compensate people affected by floods in 34 provinces at the rate of 5,000 THB per household while the payment is required to be made within 30 days. As the damage assessment has been completed in Chum Saeng and Tha Tako districts of Nakhon Sawan province, flood victims in the areas will be the first to receive the money on 17 September.

A total of 68.6 million THB will be presented by Prime Minister Yingluck to the Chum Saeng district chief for distribution to 13,721 recipients while another 26.16 million THB will be given to 5,233 people in Tha Tako via the district chief. The Government Savings Bank will also set up desks to provide services for flood victims coming to claim their financial assistance on the day.
