Ms. Yingluck, after chairing a meeting of the Committee to Mobilize Policy and Strategy to Solve Problems in the Southern Border Provinces on Thursday, affirmed that the peace dialogue with the BRN will continue, and that coordinator Malaysia has confirmed that Hassan Taib remains the leader of the BRN representatives at the dialogue table.
Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Thirat Rattanasewi said the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center has reported early findings from its survey of trade and investment confidence in the Deep South, and that it found confidence to be improving.
The meeting also made adjustments to the Deep South-oriented tasks assigned to individuals and ministers. Deputy Prime Minister Niwatthamrong Bunsongphaisan will oversee intelligence, Deputy Defense Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapha will oversee security, and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan has been tasked with developmental affairs and the overall picture. Labour Minister Chalerm Yubamrung will handle the narcotics issue in the area, while the public health minister has been assigned to closely monitor health issues in the area. The National Security Council will help to implement the efforts by these individuals.
