A month after declaring that traps would be more effective than poising in curbing Pattaya Beach’s rat problem, city health were out again distributing chemicals to beach chair vendors.

City legal chief Sretapol Boonsawat led Disease Control Department workers to the beach opposite Central Festival Pattaya Beach for another round of rat-reduction routines.

Rat poison was given to chair and umbrella vendors, along with a message to keep their areas tidy to control the vermin infestation.

Just three weeks earlier, the same health workers had handed out traps, saying poison was counterproductive, as the rats later died in tunnels or holes, causing foul odors when the carcasses couldn’t be removed.

The next rat raid was supposed to occur in November, but was launched just 21 days later when, apparently, the trap tactics failed.
