Pattaya residents and government officials traveled to three northeastern provinces to study community-building projects in hopes of creating a “dream team” for Pattaya.

Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome led the work-study trip to Udon Thani, Nong Khai and Phetchabun with representatives from Pattaya’s 38 communities Dec. 17-21.

At a Dec. 13 preparatory meeting, Itthiphol described the trip as one intended to study how the Issan provinces are building unity and harmony to raise the fortunes of residents. The mayor said he wants to bring the same philosophy to Pattaya so that communities will work together to improve the lives of their citizens.

“I am always aware that the success of Pattaya does not lie only with the planning and policies of the administrators, but depends on working together as a team,” Itthiphol said. “If teams work efficiently, the success is that much faster. Working with large groups usually leads to conflicts, which is a direct route to failure. Therefore, Pattaya organized the work-study project for the communities committee members to implement in their homes.”

The “dream team” idea, officials explained, requires residents to understand their own and others’ behaviors, understand the nature of human beings and work together to increase potential, reduce conflicts and enjoy working together.
