The event took place near a dam in Nonthaburi province. Mr. Wichien Phutthiwinyu, governor of Nonthaburi, headed up a group of civil servants, police officers, soldiers, and Nonthaburi citizens who gathered to offer alms to a total of 61 monks. The gathered party also released 1 million fish and shrimps, in order to make merit in honor of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.
The merit-making was to celebrate His Royal Highness’s sixtieth birthday, or his fifth cycle birthday, on July 28. The event was also held to demonstrate Thai citizens’ loyalty and deep appreciation of the divine grace of the royal family.
