Mai Chaiyanit hosted the resumption of the street market outside the sub-district office that had been suspended temporarily following last month’s passing of HM the King.

“Shop Chuan Chim” gives space to local traders for free to help them supplement their income, and is known as a good spot for deals.

On this day, however, in addition to the food, beverages, organic vegetables, massage services, perfumes, second-hand items and local handicrafts, a number of vendors offered their wares for free in honor of HM the late King.

Mitryon Pattaya offered oil changes for 89 motorbikes while Thai Itoh Technology College fixed electronic items for free. Toyota Charoenyon Pattaya offered free service to 24 vehicles and Natcha Spa gave away 1,000 bottles of perfume.

Mai said the restart of the market is the first of many traditional events that will, in fact, be held in the Pattaya area, including Loy Krathong and the Nongprue Longboat Races.
