Nongprue cleans canal for Mother’s Day

Nongprue residents got together to honor HM the Queen for her Aug. 12 birthday by cleaning out a crucial flood-control canal.

Mayor Mai Chaiyanit presided over the Aug. 4 event attended by more than 100 sub-district council members, residents and inmates of the Pattaya Remand Prison.

The group began clearing out the canal near Nongprue Community 1. They helped each other collect plastic bags and other rubbish, remove twigs and plants and also used their spades and shovels to get rid of the mud.

The cleaning was mainly to honor HM the Queen on her birthday and will also help storm runoff flow to the sea during rainy season.

Mai said the cleanup also helps to raise awareness about the importance of not littering and to build community teamwork.
