Residents in Soi Bongkot in south Pattaya have had enough of police volunteers that do not wear their uniforms so they took some video of the police and took it to local reporters.

The villagers stated that these men set up checkpoints in dark areas and that if you got stopped you didn’t really know if they were police or local thugs who perhaps wanted to rob you.

Arte these men police volunteers or thugs? Are these men police volunteers or thugs?

Sometimes members of the public wouldn’t stop when they were waved down as the police were not wearing uniforms, and then later they would be charged with failing to stop when ordered to do so by the police.

The residents want the police to be properly attired so that they can distinguish if these checkpoints are official or simply a clever way for local thugs to make money.
