NAKHON PHANOM, 31 March 2014  – Mr. Weerasak Wichiansaen, the Head of Nakhon Phanom Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, has advised the northern community that it is expected that from 2-4 April 2014 a new cold air mass from China will extend into upper Thailand.

The area has been influenced by a low pressure pattern, which has led to hot weather causing summer thunderstorms i.e. thunderstorms, with wind gusts and isolated hail at times.

Residents are advised to prepare for windstorms which could cause damage to property and endanger lives. Precautions need to be taken to secure houses against storms and damage from hail, and where possible to protect agricultural crops. People living in areas at risk, should be careful of dangerous conditions arising from the storms over the 2-3 days (2-4 April) and follow reports on the situation to prepare for any disaster that may occur.
