The MWA has increased its production capacity since March and has also tightened its check on the water quality of the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani to deal with intrusion of seawater. Salinity of the raw water is still below the critical level.
Although the current water supply is enough for consumption this year, the MWA urged the public to use water economically. The agency warned that wasteful consumption would affect the agricultural sector and might lead to water shortage in the future.
Major dams, including Bhumibol Dam, Sirikit Dam, Pasak Chonlasit Dam, Srinakarin Dam and Vajiralongkorn Dam are reported to contain water at 16 to 22 percent of their capacity at the moment
