According to Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Nigerian officials revealed that the 4 Thais had made contact with the company they were working for and confirmed they were unharmed. However, the abductors have yet to make any demands in exchange for the release of the four Thais. Mr. Surapong said he has told the Thai embassy in Nigeria to increase its oversight for Thais in that country.
Prawit Khiengphon, director-general of the Employment Department, said a letter has been sent to the Israeli company that employed the Thais, requesting that the company provide assistance while practicing extreme caution to ensure the safety of the workers. Mr. Prawit noted however that the 4 Thais had undertaken employment while under tourist status.
