A mentally challenged woman who wandered away from home was found safe atop Pratamnak Hill.

Sunisa Sooksawat, 26, was discovered late Oct. 26 topless and sitting on a bench at the viewpoint near the Naval Radio Station. While missing much of her clothing, officers determined she had not been assaulted.

The search by 30 officers for the Chumphon province native began after she was reported missing from her relatives’ home on Soi Chalermprakiet 15 two days earlier.

Police on patrol in an area of Pratamnak considered high-risk for crime after dark discovered a suspicious handbag. Searching it, they discovered it was owned by the missing woman. Officers then fanned out across the park to find her.

The woman was unable to communicate and was in a weakened condition when found. Officers covered her up and took her to the hospital for a full checkup.

Police assumed she’d had some disagreement with her relatives and ran away. Witnesses reported seeing her earlier playing in the sea.
