Local groups in several provinces express support for PM Yingluck

KHON KAEN, 10 December 2013 Village headmen associations in many provinces have expressed support for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and expressed their desire for all sides to engage in dialogue in order to move the country forward.

Representatives from village headmen and sub-district chiefs’ associations in 26 districts of Khon Kaen have submitted a letter in support of the democratic system to Khon Kaen provincial governor Somsak Suwannasutcharit . The representatives indicated they would like to ask all sides to engage in dialogue, while the caretaker government should continue its duty.

In Phayao, a crowd comprising individuals from village headmen associations, sub-district health offices and other local entities gathered at the provincial city hall to express support for the prime minister. Representatives of the group, some holding banners and placards with messages of moral support for Ms. Yingluck, submitted a letter expressing their stance to deputy provincial governor Nimit Wanchaiyathanawong.

In Uttaradit, people gathered at the Phraya Phichai monument holding banners with messages of support toward the prime minister. The group also handed bouquets meant for the prime minister to provincial governor Chat Kittinopphadon, so the latter could forward it to Ms. Yingluck. The crowd at the monument also expressed their desire for the country to safely pull through the current turmoil.
