BANGKOK, 8 August 2014  – The Ministry of Interior is pleased with efforts to foster reconciliation among members of the public throughout the nation, in accordance with Phase 1 of the current national road map.

According to Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Wibun Sa-nguanphong, officials who have been gathering the opinions of people regarding the conciliation drive considered the feedback to be satisfactory. However, there were isolated problems that needed tackling, especially in the North and Northeast; officials from the provincial administrations and the Internal Security Operations Command will visit the village and sub-district levels more often to arrange more meetings with residents.

Mr. Wibun is confident the second phase of the road map, which is already unraveling, will help to improve on the reconciliation situation.

He also said the performance of the Damrongtham centers, which were launched on Monday, was satisfactory. The performance of the centers, set up to receive complaints from the public and to ensure the said complaints are acted on, will be assessed in the near future.
