BANGKOK, June 21 – Thailand’s Pollution Control Department director-general said the ongoing haze from Indonesia will not affect the country.

Wichien Jungrungruang said his department has checked the weather conditions from the southernmost province of Narathiwat to Surat Thani. The weather there is still normal, while the authorities continue to closely monitor the situation.

He noted that the wind direction will be circling in the south and smog will be limited only to Malaysia.

Indonesia today deployed helicopters to artificially create rain to fight fires that have choked Singapore with haze, which the island state considers at record-breaking levels posing a threat to the public.
