CHONBURI, 5 June 2014  – Police have discovered a number of improvised explosives placed inside a cardboard box, which was then concealed beneath a thick area of grass at a section of Jomtien Road in Pattaya.

Police Colonel Supatee Boonkrong, the superintendent of the Chonburi Provincial Police, said that the explosives were found under a dense grass bush near the Jomtien Road.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were immediately called in to inspect the scene and made a safe recovery of the bombs.

Five bombs were found inside the box, including an M-34 smoke bomb, an M-26 grenade, two MK2 grenades, and an M-67 grenade. Even though the bombs were quite old, they were still functional to cause destruction.

Mr. Supatee reasoned that the perpetrator got rid of these explosives to escape detection from the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), who have been determined to crackdown on the possession of war weapons.
