ICT Minister attends disaster reduction conference in Japan

BANGKOK, 4 July 2012  - Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Group Captain Anudith Nakornthap has attended a ministerial conference in Japan to exchange ideas on how to reduce impacts from natural disasters.

The World Ministerial Conference on Disaster Reduction in Tohoku, Japan, began yesterday and has concluded today. The main objective was to allow participants to share their experience with natural disasters and exchange views on how to restore disaster-stricken areas and mitigate risks that could occur during catastrophic events.

On this occasion, Gp Capt Anudith had a chance to inform the world community how important the risk assessment for all levels of disasters is to Thailand while also stressing the need to develop and improve the ICT system to reduce the risks.

In addition to his participation in the conference, the Thai ICT Minister also visited disaster-hit areas in Japan.
