BANGKOK, 18 April 2013  The National Security Council (NSC) has finished marking the spots where additional CCTVs will be installed in the three southern border provinces.

The progress was revealed by NSC Secretary-General Lt. Gen. Pharadorn Phatthanathabut after a meeting of security units also participated by the National Police chief and the Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army on Thursday. Lt. Gen. Pharadorn said the meeting discussed the installation of more CCTVs in the far South, its budget allocation and details of the areas where the cameras would be set up. Lt. Gen. Pharadorn cited Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra as saying to the meeting that CCTVs in the southern region must be linked to similar devices in other areas of the country.

As for the government’s peace dialogue with the BRN insurgent group on 29 April, the NSC head said he had informed the meeting of the talks’ framework and assured that Thailand would still stick to the dialogue’s objective to reduce violent incidents in the region. He said no other insurgent groups had contacted the government to enter the peace process.
