Mr Wim Rungwattanachinda, a spokesman of the FROC, revealed the FROC’s grave concerns over the current flood situation, particularly in the area near Prapa Canal, where embankments are being strengthened and reinforced, and in Bang Bua Thong, where the Royal Thai Armed Forces had led 100 boats to relocate more than 10,000 stranded residents as requested by the FROC director.
Last night, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation also brought 20 boats to help residents in Phathum Thani. Requested by the FROC, Suvarnabhumi Airport has cleared its entrance and exit road lanes to provide a parking lot with a capacity of containing 3,000 vehicles. Moreover, the Royal Thai Air Force Academy and the Royal Thai Navy Academy offered a space for 2,000 vehicles to park each, resulting in a combined parking space of more than 7,000 vehicles right now. Thus, the people parking their cars on expressways can move and park them at the provided parking locations guarded with security officers.
