President of the Lawyer’s Association of Thailand Narinphong Chinaphak said the court ordered the temporary release of Mr Jaturon, who was the alleged in the case of martial law violation and insurrection, on 400,000-baht bail.
The court prohibited Mr Jaturon from traveling out of the country without its permission and participating in a political protests which could trigger further unrest. The former minister was also banned from expressing his opinions via verbal, written and other means, Mr Narinphong said.
Mr Jaturon was arrested on 27 May 2014, days after the National Council for Peace and Order seized power from the caretaker government. The harshest sentence in his case is imprisonment of over seven years.
