A Pattaya taxi driver claims it was simply an “accident” that he left a South Korean tourist at a gas station, leaving with his belongings.

Driver Sutthiphong Aunion, 47, contacted police July 11 to alert them that he’d forgotten the man when he filled up in Nongmai Daeng, Chonburi.

He said he was taking the man to Bangkok and stopped to get gas. When he did, the tourist went inside to use the restroom. Once Sutthiphong filled up, he jumped back in the cab, glanced to see his bags were in the car and drove off.

Pattaya Tourist Police Division commander Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn quickly dispatched officers to the station where they found the bewildered tourist waiting.

Piyapong said the man wasn’t angry, just worried, and accepted an apology from the cabbie once he returned. He then got in his cab again and – checking that the tourist was on board – headed back off to Bangkok.
