Ratree Pipattanapaiboon was released last Friday after spending 2 years in Cambodian prison. According to the Foreign Minister, the release came after the talks between Thai Premier and Prime Minister Hun Sen, during which the Cambodian Premier had promised to help out.
In the case of Veera Somkwamkid who is still behind bars in the Cambodian jail, the prison term has been reduced by 6 months. Although the Cambodian law requires that Mr Veera serve at least one-third of the sentence before being eligible for pardon, the foreign minister said the Thai government would do its utmost to help Mr Veera nevertheless, said Surapong.
