Vuori Emil Juhani, 51, told police he was coming out of his rented room Dec. 4 when a man on a motorbike rode by and snatched the gold from his neck.

It was worth about 2,000 euros, or in excess of 75,000 baht. Thai minimum wage workers make less than 9,000 baht a month.

Police are investigating.
