Finland’s ambassador to Thailand toured two city schools to see how a cooperative program between the two countries is improving education.

HE Kirsti Westphalen led a delegation of 10 Finns to Pattaya schools 8 and 11 Oct. 16 while attending the EDUCA 2015 “On Schooling” event.

Both schools are participating in a Thai-Finnish program to increase the use of learning and teaching media in the classroom.

Educators from both countries took the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences on teaching youths. Westphalen complimented administrators on their effort and pledged continued support.

The ambassador said education extends beyond the classroom and life learning needs to be supported as well.

“This creates a question of what we should learn, how we learn, what we learn for, and what is the effect on people and society as we strive to become a peaceful society,” she said.

HE Kirsti Westphalen receives a welcome gift from Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh.
