Two grifters masquerading as employment agents were arrested for allegedly trying to swindle a pair of Indians out of 50,000 baht.

Patchanee Chokkokruad, 37, and Indian national Mohammaed Junaid Sharief, 22, were taken into custody Aug. 18 at their house on Sukhumvit Soi 33 following a police complaint by Ozha Bhimkanth, 30, and Malla Ravi, 33.

The two Indian victims said they contacted Sharief via the Whatsapp messaging program and flew to Thailand on promises that he and his Thai partner could get them jobs in Canada.

The suspects picked up their would-be victims from the airport and brought them to a hotel in South Pattaya. There they explained that, in order to arrange the jobs, each man would have to pay 25,000 baht.

The Indians became suspicious and surreptitiously recorded a video of the suspects on payment day. They then took the evidence to police who arrested their pair of alleged swindlers, charging them with fraud.
