A former manager of a Pattaya biker bar is facing deportation after being arrested in Nakhon Sawan for overstaying his visa.

Damon Wait, 42, the former manager of the Sport Lounge at the Ponderosa Resort on Lake Mabprachan was taken into custody by Nakhon Sawan immigration police Feb. 6.

Police alleged the Englishman was affiliated with the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, which immigration authorities have been trying to purge from the kingdom.

Wait, however, was said by those who know him to not be a member of the club, only a supporter who ran a club where group members congregated.

Police and soldiers sealed off and swarmed the 16-room hotel last June 4, a month after it opened. Officers said they confiscated 20 boxes of sexual-performance medication and a bag of heroin. Police said Wait confessed the drugs were for his personal use.

A search of the resort’s office found a 9mm handgun and ammunition.

Immigration authorities have declared Wait a security threat and had investigated his properties in Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Investigators claimed he was on his way back to Pattaya and was arrested when he stopped overnight in Nakhon Sawan.
