EGAT Assistant Governor for System Control Piboon Buacham has disclosed that the scheduled maintenance of the Yetagun pipeline in Myanmar during 8-18 April, which coincides with the Songkran festival, will result in a lower quantity of natural gas for electricity generation. However, EGAT stands firm that it will do its best to provide sufficient power supply to the public. It has also expressed confidence in the efficiency of its plan to compensate the loss of natural gas with fuel and diesel oil while also collaborating with other power plants in order to maintain the stability of Thailand's electricity system.
Mr. Piboon added that Thailand's record of electricity usage saw a sharp spike on 13 and 23 March due to the extremely hot weather.
