BANGKOK, 14 March 2014 The Election Commission (EC) says it is urgently investigating into the case of the prime minister to decide if her trips to the northern and northeastern provinces during her election campaign were against the Election Act.

Election Commissioner Boonsong Noisophon said the EC’s investigating sub-committee had already inquired four persons and was questioning four more. The investigators would request the premier to clarify her charges afterward, he said.

As for the allegation of election fraud against Chiang Mai poll winner Yaowapa Wongsawat, Mr Boonsong said the election commissioners could vote on the case immediately if Election Commissioner for Election Arrangement Somchai Srisuthiyakorn did not order interrogations of the witnesses.
