BANGKOK, 17 MARCH 2013  The petitions related to the March-3 Bangkok gubernatorial election are expected to be considered by the Election Commissioners within next week, according to EC Deputy Secretary-General Puchong Nutrawong.

The EC Deputy Secretary General said the petitions filed against MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the Bangkok governor-elect, have been forwarded to the EC by the Bangkok election committee.

He said the final deliberation will soon be made so that the official endorsement of the election result can be announced by April 2, 2013.

However, if the investigation into the petitions could not be completed within 30 days as stated by the election law, the EC will allow MR Sukhumbhand to assume the post while the probe continues, said Mr. Puchong.
