BANGKOK, 25 August 2014  – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) committee in charge of drawing up meeting regulations is expected to finish its duty within this week before the regulations are reviewed by NLA members next week.

NLA Vice President Peerasak Porjit revealed that details of the draft regulations for NLA meetings have been resolved in almost all aspects, including the dismissal of political title holders as well as NLA members. He said each member will be obligated to attend no less than one-third of the NLA meetings and an evaluation will be conducted every 90 days.

Moreover, the drafting committee is currently determining whether the NLA should have 15 or 20 working committees since the NLA is considered a different type of legislative body from a regular parliament. As for the announcement of government policy, the NLA Vice President believed Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha will take on the task by himself.

Mr Peerasak was adamant the drafting process will conclude no later than this week. The meeting regulations will be considered by the NLA President before being brought to the attention of NLA members next week.
