Deputy Prime Minister Pracha said it is still not clear who is behind the recent attacks in the Deep South during the fasting month of Ramadan, while affirming that the peace talk with the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) will continue as it is, according to the DPM, the only way to restore peace in the violence-torn south.
Meanwhile, National Security Council (NSC) Secretary-General Paradorn Pattanatabut said the NSC will collect all information and statistics on each incident taking place during the holy month and give it to the BRN group to ask for an explanation. The secretary-general expressed his belief that the latest attacks were made by a BRN sub-group who has different points of view.
Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, there have been around 60 incidents happening in the south. However, the army says more than half of those attacks are non-national security related.
