Pattaya public health workers provided everything from health checks to massage to pet sterilizations during a “Doctor at Home” outreach project at the Thepprasit Open Market.

Pattaya Hospital nurse Maneerath Lawan led the May 24 expo, which is held monthly around the city to reach out to people who can’t visit the doctor, and to cut down on hospital in-patients. Pattaya estimates its long running Doctor at Home project saves about 20,000 hospital beds a year.

Doctors, nurses and volunteers provided basic health treatment, consultations on chronic illnesses, disease prevention tips and general health promotion. They answered questions on the Health Security Fund, food safety, cosmetics analysis and herbal remedies.

Free massages were offered and health workers distributed mosquito abate and rat poison, and provided pet sterilizations and vaccinations.

The next Doctor at Home outreach will be June 26 at the Soi Chaiyapruek 2 Community.
