Defense receives THB 50 million from Govt to improve int’l ties

BANGKOK, 8 January 2012  The Cabinet has approved a budget of 50 million baht to the Ministry of Defense for its work to strengthen security ties in terms of personnel and armaments between Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. 

Deputy Government Spokesman Phakdeeharn Himathongkham said on Tuesday that the Cabinet had decided to allow the Ministry of Defense to implement a plan on the development of military relations and security cooperation with neighboring and other countries, especially Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. The budget of 50 million baht will be spent on the preparation of forces and weaponry as well as the arrangement of activities to improve ties and security cooperation with those countries.

The 50-million-baht budget is part of the ministry’s action plan for the fiscal years 2013-2015.
