The carcass of a dead dolphin washed up on Pattaya Beach.

The mammal – about two meters long and weighing almost 50 kilograms – washed ashore early Feb. 7. It had been dead about 3-5 days.

Pattaya officials had the carcass transported to the Chonburi Natural Resources and Environment Department for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Beach vendor Veerapat Cherdphan reported the dead dolphin when it washed ashore, but said Pattaya city hall police only took photos and left. He had to call again when the uncovered dolphin began to smell and attract the attention of tourists.
