Censure debate against Yingluck and Jarupong Ruangsuwan kicks off

BANGKOK, 26th November 2013 Members of Parliament are ready to consider the motions of no confidence lodged against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Interior Minister, Jarupong Ruangsuwan.

The censure debate will be held over a period of two days, November 26 and 27, 2013, although the Democrat party has asked for three days, with the voting to take place on November 28, the last day of the parliamentary session.

Former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, head of the opposition party, will lead the censure debate. The issues expected to be raised include the government’s rice pledging scheme, its 350,000 million baht water management program, and the 2 billion baht loan for the nation’s infrastructure developmsnt.

Strict security measures have been put in place around the parliament, and roads surrounding the Govern House will be closed temporarily.
