Celebrity wife-killer Dr Wisut released from prison on parole

BANGKOK, Aug 4 —  Dr Wisut Boonyakasemsanti, a former gynaecologist who was jailed for killing his wife, then dissecting and concealing her body, was released from prison this morning after serving 10 years and seven months of his sentence.

Ayuth Sintoppant, Bangkwang Central Prison governor, said that Dr Wisut– jailed more than 10 years ago for killing his wife, Dr Passaporn Boonyakasemsanti–was released today because he met parole criteria.

His parole was approved by the parole boards of the prison, the Corrections Department and by the Justice Ministry.

Dr Wisut had behaved during his imprisonment, according to Mr Ayuth, and he had helped patients.

Served 10 years, seven months and 25 days, Dr Wisut had received pardons on occasion.

With a remaining term of three years, one month and 20 days, he meets the criteria for parole as an inmate whose remaining term is less than five years.

During the parole Dr Wisut will be under the supervision of the Department of Probation.

He must report to the department and meet its behavioral conditions or he will be returned to jail. His actual jail term will end on Sept 24, 2017.

Bangkwang Gov Ayuth said he had spoken with Dr Wisut, who said he wanted to work for society.
