BANGKOK, 26 April 2015 – The Constitution Drafting Committee has brushed aside reports on a lobbying effort for an adjustment of some parts of the draft charter.

According to CDC spokesman Gen. Lertrat Ratanavanich, there has not been any attempt to lobby for a change in the charter drafters’s current provision related to the origin of senators.

The CDC has thoroughly discussed and included in the new Constitution that each province will elect one senator to join the other 123 members of the Upper House who will take office via different approaches, said Gen. Lertrat.

Meanwhile, the National Reform Council’s deliberation of the first draft of the Constitution on Sunday looked at the part of the draft related to the reform and the promotion of national reconciliation, which the council said is significant for the reform efforts and directly related to its responsibilities.
