BANGKOK, 15 April 2011 (NNT) – The Transport Co, Ltd and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) have confirmed enough buses and trains to accommodate holidaymakers returning to Bangkok following the Songkran Festival.

President of the Transport Company Wuthichart Kalayanamitr assured the company’s readiness to transfer huge crowds of people back to Bangkok after celebrating the Thai New Year of Songkran across the country. He said around 100,000 revelers had returned to the city yesterday while forecasting the highest inbound commutes during this weekend.

Mr Wuthichart insisted that the company had prepared sufficient buses and that no one would be left stranded. However, he suggested vacationers to start making their way back gradually in order to avoid traffic congestion on the very last day.

Meanwhile, Ms Nuananong Wongchan, Chief of the SRT’s Public Relations Division, pointed out that not many train users had headed back to Bangkok so far but they are likely to begin their journey tomorrow. Likewise, she confirmed that all travelers would have their seats on the train. Even though the first class has been fully reserved, there are still the second and third class available.
