Burglars picked the wrong noodle shop to rob recently, not realizing the Huay Yai restaurant was owned by a police captain’s wife.

The suspects broke into the Sunflower Sprouts Noodle shop around 2 a.m. Aug. 14, getting away with about 10,000 baht cash and several gold amulets. But they took their time, swigging a couple of Cokes and smoking cigarettes before leaving.

Owner Lin Onsoam, wife of Huay Yai Pol. Capt. Praw Onsoam, said she never dreamed anyone would break into the Soi Nong Maikaen 9 restaurant due to her police connection and the fact it was only 100 meters from the Nongprue Police Station.

Police said two young thieves stole a pink motorbike just down the street a couple of days earlier, but were uncertain if it was the same pair that burglarized the noodle shop.

In any case, police are out to help one of their own and are making extra efforts to find the thieves.
