BANGKOK, 30 May 2013 The management of the Airport Rail Link asserts it is in the process of asking the State Railway Authority for additional budget for improving Makasan station and encouraging more people to use its service.

Phirakan Kaewwongwatthana, president of Airport Rail Link, on Wednesday inspected services offered at Makasan airport link station in Bangkok, and saw to proper functioning of the newly-installed fans at the terminals. The fans had been installed to ease passengers’ discomfort from the intense summer heat.

Mr. Phirakan said he is asking the State Railway Authority, the Airport Rail Link’s parent organization, for budget to improve the scenery around the Makasan station. He further revealed that more lanes will be opened to facilitate auto traffic in and out of the station, bringing the total lanes to 4.

Mr. Phirakan added his agency is discussing with the Airports of Thailand to put up counters promoting the rail link at Suvarnabhumi airport, to encourage foreign tourists to use the service. An OTOP products exhibition will also be held at Makasan station at the end of June, to give the station more public exposure.
