Brit dies in hit-and-run motorbike accident

A British man was killed after witnesses say he lost control of his motorbike, crashed and was run over by a six-wheeled truck.

Christopher Nicholas Gibb, 31, was pronounced dead in front of the Anwaris Sunnah mosque on Soi Pornpraphanimit 8 in East Pattaya Jan. 21.

Ekapong Boonkern, 28, told police he was driving from Sukhumvit Road when Gibb – driving the opposite direction – cut in front of a pickup truck and lost control of his Honda Click. The Brit crashed into Ekapong’s Toyota Vigo and fell. A commercial vehicle traveling behind Ekapong could not brake in time to stop from running over his body.

Ekapong stayed at the scene to give police statement and was taken into custody pending investigation. The driver of the commercial vehicle who killed Gibb fled the scene and is now being pursued by police.
