Sukij was later captured near the site of the old pier near Walking Street with the Uzbek woman’s mobile phone and personal documents.

Feruza told police she had been in Pattaya only three days and met the Thai man on the beach and hit it off. They went drinking on Walking Street and then decided to rent a hotel room. She said Sukij’s personality then changed and he started going through her belongings before assaulting her and fleeing with her wallet, which contained 2,000 baht.

Sukij told police he was sleeping and awoke to find the Eastern European woman going through his pockets. He got angry and they fought and he admitted stealing her wallet.

Police said the Muay Thai boxing trainer recently was released from prison for serving a three-year term for drugs.
