BANGKOK, 21 August 2012  – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has sent a caravan of 20 water trucks to Nakhon Si Thammarat to help put out the spreading forest fires.

Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra presided over the launch of 20 water trucks and 100 officials tasked with helping put out the peat swamp fires in Nakhon Si Thammarat. In addition to the twenty water trucks, the caravan also included a fire truck, a repair truck, an information unit, and two light-equiment trucks.

The forest fires have spread to seven other districts in the southern province. The assistance Bangkok has given is a gesture of thanks to the southern people who earlier sent help to the capital during the massive flood in 2011.
