Bangkok Deputy Governor Malinee Sukvejvorakij disclosed that 3,772 cases of HFMD have been reported in the capital since the beginning of this year. In July alone, there have been a total of 1,787 HFMD patients. However, the number of cases is gradually dropping week by week, and the BMA is expecting the situation to significantly improve in August.
Three schools under the BMA’s supervision, namely Wat Thammapiram School, Rajavinit School and Darakam School, will remain closed until further notice as a measure to control the spread among children. Three kindergartens in Bangkok will also remain partially closed, awaiting further instructions.
Mrs Malinee disclosed that the number of HFMD patients has tripled that reported five years ago. The country in general saw a spike in patients during June to July.
