Banglamung’s new district chief got his first official taste of Walking Street by leading police and volunteers on a safety check through the nightlife district.
Naris Miramaiwong led the contingent of district officials, Tourist and Pattaya police, and soldiers on the tour Nov. 25. He dispatched officers to different corners of the strip to check on happenings and report potential safety threats to tourists.
He said rigorous checks need to be continued on Walking Street due to continuous reports of bag snatching, fights, drugs, weapons and others activities.
Officers also checked bar bouncers who often are in the middle of fights with tourists, but also asked them to check patrons before they entered go-go and beer bars so as to prevent them from bringing drugs inside.
