Authorities reassure tourists about security

Police, soldiers and local government officials fanned out across the Bali Hai Pier area to reassure Koh Larn-bound tourists that Pattaya is taking security seriously following the Bangkok shrine bombing.

Banglamung District Chief Chakorn Kanjawattana, Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh, Pattaya Police Superintendent Lt. Col. Sukthat Pumpunmuang and Maj. Gen. Supased Maleewong, operations chief for the 14th Military Circle led the delegation of nearly 100 police, soldiers, Marine Department and city officials to the South Pattaya pier Aug. 22.

The group walked the jetty to greet tourists leaving for Koh Larn, and strongly emphasized that safety in Pattaya can be trusted.

A tour group of government officers from Bangkok asked to take photos with the district chief and his team and said that Pattaya is an interesting city for tourism because there are many beaches and other attractions. They had no worry or concern because of their trust of security measures provided.
